Close to 25,000 Lost Power in Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Weather Systems
Approximately 25,000 households in south-east Queensland woke up lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms swept through the area, generating strong winds hitting 109km/h.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Widespread Damage
Residents observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Utility workers were working to restore electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams working to address the extensive power failures.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
At the same time, around 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also experienced energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its wettest day in over 500 days.
Emergency response teams responded to nearly 600 calls for help across the area, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

- Hoppers Crossing area - multiple emergency calls
- Wyndham - over 175 emergency requests
At the height on Sunday, more than 28,000 energy customers in the state were without power.
Meteorological Predictions
Humid circumstances were expected to linger along large portions of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was expected to become the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent storm activity predicted across various areas of both states.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities alerted that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
This warning comes after previous incidents where comparable situations led to major medical consequences in the area.
